Teachers who, during the 2016-17 school year, were rated highly effective or effective on their year-end performance evaluations; obtained 10 SCECHs above the district's requirements of 25; had five (5) or fewer absences; met the requirements of being a core class instructor); and complete the current school year.

American Addiction Center Illegally Locks Out Workers At Sunrise House

One of the nation’s largest for-profit addiction treatment chains, American Addiction Centers (AAC),has illegally locked out workers after failing to reach an agreement for a first contract with nurses and health professionals at Sunrise House in Lafayette, NJ.   Frontline caregivers who had been planning a 3-day Unfair Labor Practice strike (May 24-May 26, 2017) were informed on Tuesday evening that AAC was illegally locking out workers beginning around 8:30 on the evening of May 23. Labor leaders and supporters joined workers at a rally at Noon on the 24th.

Stewards Training

Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) trained a new group of stewards in the union’s office on Tuesday May 23, 2017. The stewards learned a lot about their union and its function. Many of them told stories of workplace bullying and harassment from superiors while also noting the difference in the behavior of management when a union official was present and when one was not.

2017 Bargaining Survey

The University High School Lady Phoenix cheerleaders went down to Jackson,
NJ on Saturday, May 20th and competed in the Annual Six Flags Cheerfest.
They took 2nd place in the Varsity High School division. Congratulations
ladies under the direction of UHS Alum, Yazmin Seabrook! Stand Up!

Coghill Charter School Teachers vote to negotiate a contract

(New Orleans – May 22, 2017) Educators at Mary D. Coghill Charter School will move to bargain a first contract with the school administration after decisively voting to join the United Teachers of New Orleans, an affiliate of the Louisiana Federation of Teachers.
