Meetings to Discuss Changing the Lecturer B System

Come to a meeting to discuss options for changing the Lecturer B system into something that is better for part-time lecturers and our job security at EMU.

All lecturers are invited, EMUFT members will be able to vote on options.

There are multiple meeting times to accommodate as many people as possible. You need only come to one meeting:

Wed. July 9 at 10am
Wed. July 9 at 5:30pm
Thur. July 10 at 12pm
Thur. July 10 at 7pm

All meetings will be in 221 Pray-Harrold and will last one hour.

Last year, the EMU administration told EMUFT that it would like to change the Lecturer B system for part-time lecturers. EMUFT members met and decided it was a topic worth exploring if a system for better job security could be implemented instead. A group of members has been researching other job security provisions in higher education union contracts across the country. They will present some options for a new system and open this up for conversation at the meetings on July 9 and 10.

collective bargaining did not apply. The Court found that the personal
assistants were not eligible for the same types of benefits as other

Center St.        39 YES     3 NO
Denton             50 YES     3 NO
