AUSTIN - Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams today approved an Austin Independent School District (AISD) academic plan for Eastside Memorial High School. The Commissioner's approval allows AISD to continue operation of Eastside Memorial High School beyond this school year.
During the May General Membership Meeting, the HCU 4671 Constitution and Bylaws were amended. The result of the amendments can be found here:

AUGUSTA – The union that represents nearly 1,900 part-time faculty members in the University of Maine System is marking its 25th anniversary this May.
The Part-time Faculty Association (PATFA) was founded on May 1, 1988. Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, wrote in a congratulatory letter to the association that “Your strength and perseverance over the past 25 years are a source of great pride and inspiration to all of us.”

Donning a pair of dark sunglasses, Austin ISD board trustee Jayme Mathias gathered with Eastside Memorial High School supporters on the campus at a rally and news conference May 7.
“The future of Eastside Memorial High School is so bright, we've gotta wear shades,” Mathias told attendees, explaining that that is the message he wants community members to take away from the result of community input and collaboration with the district to find a partnering entity to lead improvement at the school.

A group of advocates remains hopeful that the new partnership will revive Eastside Memorial High School.
Last night, the Austin School Board picked Johns Hopkins University to help run Eastside Memorial High School.
Although the partnership is not yet official, the new proposal alleviated some community members’ concerns over the school’s uncertain future.
