1. Your ballot should arrive in a regular envelope from the Vermont Labor Relations Board. It will NOT say "ballot enclosed" or in any way appear important.

2. In order for us to win our right to negotiate, you will need to mark the YES box on BOTH questions. The first YES defines who can vote. The second YES forms your union. We need a majority YES in BOTH boxes in order to be able to negotiate as equals for better salaries and job security.

Today, we get to celebrate a historic moment!  The State Board of Education heard a motion to return Newark to local control, and this motion passed unanimously!  We have all worked very hard to get this victory, and we all deserve to take a moment to celebrate.  That is why we invite everyone to join at at Newark City Hall today to "CELEBRATE THE RETURN TO LOCAL CONTROL" with Mayor AFT President Randi Weingarten, the city Council, and Newark Chief Education Officer Antoinette Baskerville-Richardson on Wednesday, September 13, at 3:30 p.m.

The Louisiana Federation of Teachers' 53rd Annual Convention will be held on November 18-20 at the Sheveport Convention Center in Shreveport.

On Wednesday, September 13^th, at 3:30 pm sharp, in front of Newark City Hall, Mayor Baraka will hold a press conference, open to the public, celebrating the return of local control to the Newark Public Schools after 22 years of state control. AFT National President Randi Weingarten will be among the speakers. The Weequahic High School band will play at 3:15 pm. Please come out to this very special event. So right after school do a drive through; lights on, horns honking, etc.

The Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans (WIARA) is holding its 2017 POWER Lunch on Saturday, October 9 in Milwaukee.  The POWER Lunch is The WIARA’s annual fundraiser to continue their important advocacy work on behalf of all Wisconsin retirees.

The AFT-Wisconsin Convention will be held on October 27 - 29 at the Three Bears Resort in Warrens, Wi.   The AFT-Wisconsin Retirees Council will hold its meeting during the AFT-W Convention.
